ABOUT THE ORCHESTRA

2019-2020 is shaping up to be another great year in the Cobb Middle School Orchestra. Currently, the orchestra boasts 120 musicians who play bass, cello, viola, violin, and even harp! (FISD is one of the only districts in the country to boast a harp program.)

The orchestra includes four levels, in ascending order of skill:

  • Beginning
  • Philharmonic
  • Symphonic
  • Chamber

2018-2019

  • Solo/Ensemble Contest: 10 Excellent ratings; 86 Superior ratings; 2 “outstanding soloist” awards
  • Pride of TX Music Festival (Beginning & Philharmonic: Superior, Division 1
  • Peak Music Festival (Symphonic): Superior, Division 1
  • U.I.L. Non-Varsity Orchestra (Philharmonic): Concert: 1-2-2 and Sight-reading: 1-1-1
  • U.I.L. Varsity Orchestra (Symphonic): SWEEPSTAKES winner; straight “1’s” (SUPERIOR RATING) in BOTH Concert AND Sight-Reading
